Privacy Policy

Quizafaction (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a trivia app where you can play quiz games across a range of topics, compete in timed challenge games, play daily word-guessing games, and team up with friends in team challenges. We are committed to being transparent about the limited data we collect and how we use it.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name and email address. These are encrypted at rest and are used only to identify your account, send you account emails (verification, password reset), and let you recover your password.

Game data. We record your answers, scores, and challenge progress so your statistics are available across devices and sessions. Your display name and score may appear on per-game leaderboards that are visible to all players. If you prefer not to appear on leaderboards, play without creating an account.

Team data. If you create or join a team, your display name is visible to all members of that team. When you invite someone by email, their email address is used solely to send the invitation and is not stored beyond delivery. Accepting an invite links the invitee’s account to your team.

Device token. If you opt in to push notifications, we store a device push token (Firebase Cloud Messaging token) so we can deliver challenge alerts to you. You can turn notifications off at any time from the in-app settings.

Feedback and reports. If you submit feedback or flag a question, we store the content of that message along with your account ID so we can respond.

2. Location data

Location is used only to find trivia questions near you. When you enable “Nearby Quiz Alerts” in Notifications settings, the app reads your device’s location every 30 seconds while it is open. That coordinate is sent to our server solely to query whether any geospatially–tagged questions exist within 200 metres of you. We do not store your location, log it, share it with third parties, or use it for any other purpose. The query result (a list of nearby question IDs) is returned to your device and the coordinate is immediately discarded.

You can withdraw consent at any time by toggling “Nearby Quiz Alerts” off in the Notifications screen. The app will stop reading your location immediately. No historical location data exists to delete because none is stored.

3. How we use your information

We do not sell your data, build advertising profiles, or share personal information with third parties except as required by law.

We retain your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your personal information and game history are removed within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised statistics (e.g. how many times a question was answered correctly) are retained indefinitely as they cannot be linked back to you.

6. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at the address below. To delete your account directly, go to Profile → Delete Account in the app, or visit quizafaction.com/delete-account. We will respond to all other requests within 30 days.

7. Children

Quizafaction is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
